Labour Day Long Weekend.

The 2014 Labour Day Long Weekend is almost here!

Taking place each year on the first Monday of September, Labour Day is an annual celebration of workers.

Labour Day began in the 1880’s after workers began to fight for the right to work less than 12 hours a day.

This marked the beginning of the 58 hour week movement. After an initial struggle shorter work hours

were incorporated into most union contracts in Ontario.

Labour Day is the celebration of this very achievement.

Whether you are currently employed or still struggling to find a position that’s right for you,

Labour Day is meant for you to take a break and relax at the end of the Summer.

To help you celebrate, we here at Alpha North Group have made a list of great events and activities taking place in Ontario this long weekend.

Canadian National Exhibit (CNE)

One of North America’s largest annual fairs, the CNE offers up 18 days of amusement park rides, parades, live entertainment, food and more.

Artfest at the Distillery

One of Toronto’s favorite summer art shows. Celebrating painting, photography, sculpture, fine craft, live music and more from Canada’s top artists.

Annual Labour Day Parade

The annual Labour Day Parade takes place on Monday morning, beginning near Queen and University. Marchers head south-west through the city (often along Queen then down Dufferin) and the parade ends inside the CNE.

We will be celebrating with you as our offices will be closed this Monday, However we will be back at work on Tuesday September 2nd.

Have a Great Long Weekend!
